SINGAPORE (AP) - Oil prices opened the week lower Monday in Asia on news that a storm in the Caribbean had weakened and was unlikely to threaten the Gulf of Mexico's oil production.
Light, sweet crude for October delivery fell 60 cents to $71.91 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange after climbing as high as $73.75 a barrel Friday.
Natural gas futures plunged 66.3 cents to $6.494 per 1,000 cubic feet after rising as high as $7.54 on Friday.
