AP: Professor Recalls Leading Cops to Karr

Tuesday, August 29, 2006 3:13:56 AM
By DAN ELLIOTT

John Mark Karr rides in a police vehicle as he arrives back at the Boulder County Jail in Boulder, Colo., Monday, Aug. 28, 2006. Prosecutors decided not to charge John Mark Karr in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey, his lawyers said Monday after a TV station reported that the schoolteacher's DNA failed to match genetic material on the 6-year-old girl's body. (AP Photo/Rick Bowmer)DENVER (AP) - Michael Tracey says he could barely stand to listen as John Mark Karr described in graphic detail how he supposedly had sex with JonBenet Ramsey and then accidentally killed her.

"It was just horrible," the University of Colorado journalism professor told The Associated Press. "I cannot get the image out of my head."

Investigators say e-mail correspondence and phone calls between Karr and Tracey over four years — and specifically in the past several months — are what prompted them to bring Karr to Boulder from Thailand and jail him on a murder warrant.
