ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Jered Weaver regained his winning form after the worst outing of his rookie season, scattering six hits over seven innings Monday night in a 1-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Weaver (10-2) struck out five and walked one. The only time Baltimore got a runner as far as third base was in the fifth, but Ramon Hernandez grounded into an inning-ending double play with runners at the corners.
Weaver bounced back strongly from last Tuesday's 6-4 loss at Seattle, when he gave up four home runs in 4 2-3 innings. He made his major league debut against Baltimore on May 27 at Anaheim, pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing only three hits in a 10-1 victory that triggered the first 9-0 start by an AL rookie since Whitey Ford in 1950.
