CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - A titanium maker and its owner were charged with illegally storing more than 11 tons of corrosive hazardous waste, creating a mess that a prosecutor compared to a horror movie scene.
Photos taken at Lawrence Aviation Industries show dozens of drums oozing green liquid, and trash littered the 125-acre site in Port Jefferson Station, on Long Island.
Company owner Gerald Cohen, 72, pleaded not guilty Thursday in federal court and was released on $11 million bond.
