BERLIN (AP) - Economic growth could reach 2.5 percent this year, a German minister said in remarks published Sunday, among the most optimistic forecasts yet for Europe's largest economy.
"I expect growth between 2 percent and 2.5 percent for Germany," Economy Minister Michael Glos was quoted as saying in the Bild am Sonntag newspaper.
The government's official 2006 growth forecast is 1.6 percent, though ministers have already said they expect the actual figure to be higher.
