KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) - The Ugandan army is hunting down rebels it accuses of violating a truce seen as a step toward ending one of Africa's longest-running conflicts, an army spokesman said Wednesday.
Army spokesman Maj. Felix Kulayigye said peace talks were continuing despite the government's accusations of truce violations and its military operations. Both sides have repeatedly traded accusations of violations of the truce signed in August.
Under the cease-fire agreement, Lord's Resistance Army rebels who have fought for 19 years in the north had had until Sept. 19 to get to two assembly points in southern Sudan. The government says not all the rebels complied.
