CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - An Egyptian freighter kept in port for more than three months because of legal problems has been allowed to leave Charleston Harbor.
"She's good to go," said Jimmy Lucas, the court-appointed custodian for the Edco, as he watched the ship pull away Friday morning.
The ordeal for the ship and its 29 crew members began in June when a lawsuit about a sister ship, the Edco Star, kept the empty 635-foot Edco from leaving until the owner could satisfy creditors. U.S. visa requirements forced the crew to stay on board.
