WASHINGTON (AP) - Judging by history — and the latest math — Republicans are likely to lose House seats on Nov. 7.
Democrats now hold a double-digit lead over Republicans on the polling question intended to forecast which party will win control of the House, a gap unseen for at least a decade. Just how many seats — and whether the GOP sustains enough losses for Democrats to rise to power — is less clear.
Admittedly, the question is imperfect. It doesn't mention candidate names and congressional districts, simply asking voters whether they want Democrats or Republicans in charge.
