FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) - A man who had fled authorities was convicted of capital murder Thursday in the death of a state trooper who was struck by another officer's patrol car after the chase.
Wesley Jefferson, 27, was also convicted of robbery, theft and fleeing charges related to the Sept. 11, 2005, pursuit, which ended in the death of Cpl. Mark W. Carthron, 31.
Jefferson was sentenced to life without parole for the murder. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty.
