LIMA, Peru (AP) - Peru's former presidential candidate Ollanta Humala has been charged with masterminding his brother's deadly 2005 armed takeover of a police station, a state attorney said Wednesday.
Humala could face 10 to 20 years in prison if convicted, Jacob Romero, an attorney with the Interior Ministry, told The Associated Press.
Humala spokesman Carlos Tapia said the nationalistic former candidate denies the charges. Tapia said the case was politically motivated.
