BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) - Colombia's second-largest rebel group on Wednesday released two police officers taken hostage earlier this month, a move that could revive slow-moving peace talks with the government.
The National Liberation Army, or ELN, released Carlos Calderon and Vladimir Mesa Garcia to a Red Cross mission near the town of Samaniego, 400 miles southwest of Bogota.
The officers were kidnapped Dec. 1 in the southern state of Narino, the Red Cross said in a statement.
