WACO, Texas (AP) - Kim Mulkey needed less than seven seasons to become Baylor's winningest women's basketball coach. Latara Darrett and Latoya Wyatt each scored 13 points to lead No. 9 Baylor to an 89-40 victory over North Carolina A&T on Thursday.
Mulkey has posted a 169-46 record with the Lady Bears and led Baylor to a national championship in 2005. Pam Bowers held the previous mark with 168 wins over 15 seasons.
"What we've done in a short period of time couldn't have been done without those players taking a chance on me," Mulkey said. "We didn't have a tradition to sell so we started building this program and won a national championship."
