Gearlds Sets 3's Mark As Purdue Wins

(AP) - Katie Gearlds scored 22 points and broke the Purdue record for career 3-pointers in the No. 13 Boilermakers' 79-35 victory over Michigan on Thursday night in the Big Ten opener for both teams.

Gearlds was 5-of-9 from 3-point range to push her career total to 186 and break the mark of 183 set by Stephanie White from 1996-99. Gearlds set the record with a long-range shot from the left wing in the closing seconds of the first half.

Erin Lawless added 18 points, and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton had eight points, 12 rebounds and six blocks for Purdue (12-2). It was Purdue's 16th straight win against Michigan.
