PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man was convicted Thursday of first-degree murder in the death of a 15-year-old girl who authorities said was stabbed, beaten, burned and thrown in the water before being found dead on a riverbank.
Demarcus Hamms, 21, the fourth and final defendant in the case, was convicted in the April 2005 death of Christine Ham, a Chester High School sophomore killed at a Southwest Philadelphia housing project.
A Common Pleas Court jury deliberated for nearly five hours during two days before returning its verdict.
