MADRAS, India (AP) - Third-seeded Xavier Malisse of Belgium outplayed Asian Games gold medalist Danai Udomchoke of Thailand 6-2, 6-2 Monday in the opening round of the ATP Tour's Chennai Open.
"I've not started the year with big ambitions like breaking into the top 10. I just want to go out and play well," Malisse said.
Top seed Rafael Nadal, ranked second in the world, and No. 2 seed David Nalbandian begin singles play Tuesday.
