 LONDON (AP) - Manchester United settled for a 2-2 tie at Newcastle on Monday, missing a chance to take a nine-point lead in the Premier League.
United was able to increase its standings lead only to seven points ahead of Chelsea's game at Aston Villa on Tuesday.
James Milner gave Newcastle the lead midway through the first half at St. James' Park with a 25-yard goal, but Paul Scholes scored twice to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
