BANGUI, Central African Republic (AP) - Members of a small rebel faction signed a peace deal with the Central African Republic government, state radio reported Saturday, but the main rebel coalition's military chief rejected it.
The agreement, negotiated a day earlier in Libya, calls for rebels to surrender their weapons and halt military operations in exchange for amnesty. The government would allow rebel fighters to be integrated into the national army.
The accord was signed by Central African Republic Justice Minister Paul Otto and two members of the Democratic Front rebel faction Abdoulaye Miskine and Andre Ringui Le Gaillard, state radio reported.
