BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - Devanei Hampton scored 26 and Ashley Walker had 25 as No. 20 California got back on track by beating Washington State 72-45 at Haas Pavilion on Saturday.
Cal (19-6, 9-6) had blown a 19-point lead with 13:52 remaining against Washington on Thursday, but sophomore post players Hampton and Walker combined to outscore the entire Washington State team in a tip-to-horn win. Colleen Betteridge led Washington State (5-20, 1-14) with 11 points.
The Cougars shot just 28 percent, but did make four of their first six 3-pointers to keep the game close for a while. In addition, Washington State was outrebounded 48-37, and took only 14 free throws to Cal's 34.
