PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A boarded-up home that caught fire, killing a woman and her four young children, was choked with debris and had an illegal electrical hookup and a hodgepodge of electric and kerosene heaters, investigators said.
Firefighters found the victims together on a bed on the home's second floor early Sunday, Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers said.
"It was just in a shambles, no place where human beings should be trying to live," Ayers said. "Such a large loss of life. It's a terrible tragedy."
