SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - A small civilian plane that broke apart in the air, scattering wreckage in a wooded training area of Fort Stewart, was carrying passengers on a trip to buy a recreational vehicle, authorities said Monday.
Wreckage was scattered over 1.5 miles in the accident Friday as the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza traveled to Anderson, S.C., from Titusville, Fla.
Killed were the pilot and three passengers, two of whom were planning to buy a recreational vehicle and drive it back to Florida, according to the charter company.
