TOKYO (AP) - Japanese stocks rose slightly in early trade Tuesday in the absence of market-moving news after a long weekend. The dollar was down against the yen.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 30.77 points, or 0.18 percent, to 17,535.10 points about 30 minutes after the morning session began on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, following a three-day weekend.
Japanese financial markets were closed Monday for a national holiday.
