CANBERRA, Australia (AP) - The Australian government said Thursday it was negotiating with the U.S. on a plan to build a military satellite communications facility on Australia's west coast.
The Australian government said, however, that a final agreement on the plan to build the center in the city of Geraldton was not expected for months.
There already is a secretive joint Australia-U.S. intelligence and communications complex at Pine Gap in central Australia and a U.S. naval communications station at Exmouth in Western Australia state.
