Kampala gears up for the premiere of award winning film The Last King of Scotland which portrays the rule of Uganda's brutal dictator Idi Amin. (AP Photo/Sayyid Azim) KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) - Oscar-nominated actor Forest Whitaker is in Uganda on Saturday for the local premiere of "The Last King of Scotland" in which he portrays brutal dictator Idi Amin, who seized power in the African nation in 1971 and was responsible for the disappearance of more than 500,000 people.

President Yoweri Museveni will attend the premiere Saturday night, along with the film's director Kevin Macdonald and co-star James McAvoy.

They will walk the red carpet into Kampala's Cineplex cinema — a humble establishment by Hollywood standards located on the top floor of a shopping mall in the city center.
