RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The Atlanta Thrashers' third-period scoring flurry helped them accomplish a rare feat against the Carolina Hurricanes. Ilya Kovalchuk, Marian Hossa and Eric Boulton scored in the third to rally the Thrashers to a 3-1 victory Tuesday night, handing the Hurricanes their first loss when leading after two periods.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game and the boys deserve a lot of credit," Atlanta coach Bob Hartley said. "There was no room out there. You had to fight for every inch of ice."
Carolina had won its previous 21 games when it led going into the final period.
