MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) - Daniel Ortega is enjoying a political honeymoon a month into his second term as president, with nearly two-thirds of Nicaraguans approving of his job so far, according to a poll released Wednesday.
According to the Cid-Gallup poll published in La Prensa newspaper and broadcast on Canal 2, 61 percent were happy with his performance and 64 percent said they expect he will do better than his predecessor Enrique Bolanos, who struggled to create jobs in one of the region's poorest countries.
"The challenge that Ortega and his government face is how to work with the high expectations," said Fred Denton, director of Cid-Gallup in Nicaragua.
