BALTIMORE (AP) - The city's head of firefighter training was fired for "unacceptable mistakes" after a recruit died during an exercise in a building that was deliberately set on fire, the mayor said Thursday.
Kenneth Hyde, the division chief of training, was responsible for the safety lapses that led to the death of Racheal Wilson, Mayor Sheila Dixon said, speaking hours before Wilson's burial service in Denver.
Two other fire officials were suspended without pay for 60 days.
