ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - Nikolay Davydenko overcame an ankle injury to advance to the quarterfinals of the ABN Amro, beating Marc Gicquel 6-3, 6-3 Thursday.
The top-seeded Russian had his right ankle taped while leading 2-1 in the first set, then broke the Frenchman in the next game.
Davydenko will play Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber, a 7-6 (12), 7-6 (6) winner over Rodek Stepanek of the Czech Republic 7-6 (12), 7-6 (6).
