 DENVER (AP) - Wyatt Smith couldn't remember the last time he scored. That's understandable because his last goal was 92 games ago. But Smith ended his goal-scoring drought as the Minnesota Wild withstood a third-period charge by the Colorado Avalanche for a 4-3 win Thursday night.
Smith, who last scored on Feb. 13, 2004, when he was with Nashville, backhanded a shot over Colorado goalie Peter Budaj's shoulder.
"I didn't know where (the shot) was going," he said. "So if I don't know, he (Budaj) doesn't know. Hopefully, it doesn't take another 92."
