JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - Indonesian naval ships on Friday scoured the Java Sea for survivors of a ferry that caught fire, killing at least 16 people and forcing terrified passengers to jump overboard, some clutching young babies.
Investigators said chemicals appear to have fueled the flames.
More than a dozen people were missing one day after the accident, said navy spokesman Lt. Col. Hendra Pakan, though with passenger manifests in the archaeologic nation often incomplete the number could be higher.
