ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Blues agreed to contract extensions with two key players Saturday, signing defenseman Eric Brewer to a four-year deal and goalie Manny Legace for two more years.
"This is a big day for the Blues organization as we move forward," team president John Davidson said in a statement on the team's Web site. "Both players have had an excellent season and we felt it was important to keep them in the fold as we continue to build."
The 27-year-old Brewer has three goals and 15 assists in his eight NHL seasons and is tied for 14th in the league and second on the team with 132 blocked shots. He also leads the team in ice time, averaging more than 24 minutes a game.
