TOKYO (AP) - The dollar rose slightly against the yen in Asia Friday as traders remained jittery over the direction of regional stock markets following the global sell-off earlier this week.
The U.S. dollar was trading at 117.64 yen midafternoon Friday, up from 117.58 yen late Thursday in New York. The euro fell to $1.3176, from $1.3198.
Some players said the dollar will likely continue rising as overseas fund players may buy back the currency on the notion that corrections in the stock market are largely over.
