ALTON, Ill. (AP) - State regulators have revoked the license of a funeral home owner they say failed to properly prepare the body of a decorated military veteran whose remains were found shrouded by little more than a bloody covering in the casket.
Roy Williams also showed up for services apparently wearing the dress hat that Lloyd Joseph "Kenny" White was supposed to be buried in and disappeared with the remains for hours, according to authorities.
In a revocation order signed Jan. 5 and made public Wednesday, the state Division of Professional Regulation followed the recommendation of the funeral directors board, which said that Williams' handling of the 58-year-old's body reflected "incompetence and untrustworthiness."
