KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) - The Seattle Seahawks have filled one of their biggest offseason needs by signing free-agent safety Deon Grant to a multiyear contract.
Terms were not immediately known for the former Jacksonville Jaguars starter. Grant's agent, Tony Fleming, did not return repeated calls Friday evening.
Grant, who turns 28 next week, has played in 96 consecutive games over the past six seasons, the past three with the Jaguars. His four seasons with the Carolina Panthers ended after he started the 2004 Super Bowl for them. He has 18 career interceptions and has averaged 68 tackles per season.
