BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) - Colombia's largest rebel group has released two police officers taken hostage nine days earlier, the Red Cross said Friday.
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, released Edwin Perez and Carlos Jeferson Munoz on Friday to a Red Cross mission near the town of Toribio, about 190 miles southwest of Bogota.
It was not clear why the FARC, which in recent months has hardened its stance against the pro-U.S. government of President Alvaro Uribe, freed the officers.
