LOS ANGELES (AP) - Louisville's tournament troubles appear over, at least for now. After two straight first-round exits, the sixth-seeded Cardinals beat No. 11 seed BYU 80-54 in the opening round of the Greensboro Regional on Saturday night.
Angel McCoughtry had 24 points and nine rebounds, and Jazz Covington had 14 points and grabbed seven boards for Louisville (27-7). McCoughtry, the Big East player of the year, shot 8-of-15 from the field and was 6-of-7 from the line before sitting down with 2:25 left.
It was the Cardinals' first tournament victory since 1998. Now they'll look to win a second-round game for the first time in 11 trips to the tournament.
