BOSTON (AP) - A man convicted nearly three decades later in the fatal stabbing of a woman on a family bike ride was turned down Monday for a new trial.
The state's highest court rejected Eric Anderson Jr.'s argument that the trial judge should not have allowed evidence about Anderson's skill with a knife, or testimony about his other crimes and misogynistic statements he made.
The Supreme Judicial Court also turned down Anderson's request to reduce his conviction from first-degree murder to second-degree murder in the 1977 slaying of Ruth Masters, a fourth-grade teacher.
