NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A judge on Monday postponed the trial of the owners of a nursing home where 35 patients died in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Salvador and Mabel Mangano, the owners of St. Rita's nursing home, face 35 counts of negligent homicide and 64 counts of cruelty to the infirm.
The trial was supposed to begin April 16 in St. Francisville, about 120 miles away from the nursing home's St. Bernard Parish, but Judge Jerome Winsberg agreed to push it back to Aug. 13.
