School Bus Hits Car in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A school bus crashed into a car driven by a teenager with a learner's permit Tuesday, sending 16 fifth-graders and the bus driver to hospitals with minor injuries, officials said.

The students complained of headaches and other pains but there were no serious injuries, said Karen York, spokeswoman for the school district.

The bus was carrying 41 fifth-graders from E.E. Taylor Elementary School when it crashed at an intersection in Columbia, York said.
