REMINDERVILLE, Ohio (AP) - A 10-foot deep trench next to a house collapsed Wednesday, trapping a construction worker in mud up to his waist for more than two hours, authorities said.
At least 20 firefighters and rescuers pulled dirt from the trench to free Malcolm Ferguson, 51, of Akron, who was treated at a hospital, police dispatcher Kathy Buck said. Ferguson had been breathing on his own when he was trapped, but it was labored, she said.
Freguson was reported in good condition.
