OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - ConAgra Foods Inc. earned $192.6 million in the third quarter despite a massive recall of all of its peanut butter products after they were linked to a salmonella outbreak, the company reported Thursday.
This year's results were considerably better than a year ago, when ConAgra posted a loss of $25.2 million because of one-time charges related to restructuring.
The Omaha-based company said its earnings amounted to 38 cents per share in the quarter that ended Feb. 25, versus a loss of 5 cents a share a year ago. Its latest results included one cent a share from discontinued operations.
