RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Four days of rest made a difference for the Carolina Hurricanes. Eric Staal and Andrew Ladd scored in the first 2 minutes of the third period, and the more-rested Hurricanes rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals on Thursday night.
The loss was the Capitals' first in regulation in the 25 games they have led going into the final 20 minutes.
The Capitals, who lost at Buffalo on Wednesday, were outshot 39-10 by the Hurricanes. Through two periods, Washington only needed six shots to hold a 3-2 lead.
