WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - Two powerful earthquakes shook the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu on Sunday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries, police said.
A subsequent tsunami alert issued for some southern islands passed without incident.
Australia's Emergency Management Office warned the quakes, measuring magnitude 7.2 and 6.0, could generate a tsunami affecting Vanuatu's outlying islands, a police spokesman said.
