PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A youthful-looking sex offender who posed as a boy and enrolled in several charter schools is competent to stand trial for numerous crimes, a judge has ruled.
Neil Havens Rodreick II, 29, faces charges including possessing child pornography, assault, fraud, forgery and failing to register as a sex offender.
Defense lawyers had claimed Rodreick suffered from "significant trauma" in his past. But that experience did not make him unable to assist in his defense, Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Thomas Lindberg ruled Monday after a psychiatrist examined Rodreick.
