N'DJAMENA, Chad (AP) - The No. 2 U.S. diplomat said Tuesday that Sudan and Chad should stop supporting rebel and other militias in each other's country.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte's comment was a rare public demand of U.S. ally Chad from a high-level Washington official.
Neighboring Sudan and Chad have repeatedly accused one another of backing rebels in each other's country. Both have denied the allegations and also signed peace deals promising to stop the border fighting.
