MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - An FBI informant who accuses a former state senator at the center of a public corruption investigation of threatening to shoot him testified Thursday that the lawmaker boasted about keeping two pistols in his desk.
Informant Tim Willis said he considered former state Sen. John Ford a friend and visited him often at his offices in Memphis and Nashville. He said Ford told him he kept firearms in his Memphis office in case anyone tried to attack him.
"He could shoot them from right under the desk ... hit them in the knees," Willis said in his second day of testimony at Ford's trial.
