WASHINGTON (AP) - Is a passenger in a car stopped by police free to get out and walk away? Most Supreme Court justices didn't seem to think so as they took up a case Monday dealing with passengers' rights.
"I wouldn't think of getting out of the car," Justice Stephen Breyer said.
Justice Antonin Scalia said, "I'd certainly, if I were a passenger, not feel free to immediately open the door and start walking away."
