ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) - An opposition bloc called Wednesday for peaceful protests to demand the cancellation of Nigeria's presidential elections, which international and local observers deemed flawed.
The government candidate, Umaru Yar'Adua, overwhelmingly won Saturday's presidential election, according to official results. But questions about the legitimacy of his victory have undermined a vote meant to bring Nigeria's first transfer of power between elected civilians.
The opposition has also claimed fraud in April 14 state elections, which President Olusegun Obasanjo's party won by large margins.
