PITTSBURGH (AP) - A former state representative pleaded no contest Monday to charges of concocting a bizarre fake-anthrax plot to smear a constituent who opposed him.
Jeff Habay, 40, was sentenced to four to eight months in jail, but the punishment was delayed pending his appeal of a conviction on a separate conflict of interest charge.
Habay wanted to resolve the anthrax case and spare his family a lengthy trial, said his lawyer, Patrick Thomassey.
