Tenn. Set to Resume Lethal Injections

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee is set to go ahead with executions after the governor's three-month moratorium on the procedures expires Wednesday, the state correction commissioner said Monday.

Gov. Phil Bredesen had postponed four executions of condemned inmates in February and ordered the moratorium so the state could review and better document its procedures for lethal injection.

On Monday, the state released its revised execution guidelines, and the new procedure still includes the injection of a lethal three-drug cocktail that opponents have called needlessly cruel.
