ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - When a SWAT team readied themselves to inspect a Catskills farmhouse last week, they believed the man they were looking for had already fled into the woods after tripping the house's alarm.
They knocked, yelled "State Police!" and moved inside. They secured the first floor, then moved upstairs.
Travis Trim emerged, shooting from his hiding place on the second floor. The troopers returned fire with a hail of 69 bullets. When it was over, Trim and one of their own were dead, both apparently from the troopers' bullets.
